Abstract

Abstract. This article explores the traditional symbolism of Ancient Turkestan as a semiotic resource in contemporary fashion design. It examines the transformation of the region's historical and cultural symbols into elements of a distinctive design language. A semiotic and cultural-historical approach is employed, allowing for the analysis of clothing as a system of signs conveying meanings and cultural codes. Based on an analysis of the architectural heritage, ethnic decorative motifs, and historical artifacts of Turkestan, a unique collection is created in which traditional forms, patterns, and colors are adapted to a contemporary design context. Particular attention is paid to methods of visually interpreting historical motifs, including fabric aging techniques, the use of textures, and the reinterpretation of decorative elements. This work demonstrates the potential for integrating local cultural codes into contemporary fashion design, promoting the preservation of cultural identity through artistic practice.
