Abstract. The article examines the creation and functioning of museum exhibitions as one of the key factors in their public self-presentation, as well as in the effectiveness of their cultural, educational, and communication activities. A museum exhibition is presented as an integral artistic and scholarly system in which an exhibit, as part of a museum collection, becomes not merely an object of preservation but also a bearer of historical and cultural meanings. The article analyzes the specific features of exhibition design depending on the museum’s profile, including art, historical, archaeological, local history, natural history, and memorial museums. Particular attention is paid to the following universal principles of contemporary exhibition and display practices: scholarly substantiation, the logic of thematic and chronological structure, exhibition expressiveness, accessibility, authenticity, and the preservation of museum objects. Attention is also given to the spatial organization of exhibitions as a tool of visual communication, interpretation, and emotional interaction with the visitor.
