Abstract

Abstract. The article examines the ornament as a factor in preserving ethnocultural traditions, its popularization as an element of Kazakh history, its transformation and use today. The author provides a historiography of the problem and names research papers devoted to the art of ornament and, in some cases, expresses his opinions regarding these works. In conclusion, the author emphasizes the importance of using ornament as a factor in preserving the traditional ethnocultural heritage of the Kazakh people. According to the author, traditional ornament is not only an obligatory component of the external form of a work, but, spreading its influence over various types of creativity, unites them in the space of artistic culture, the concepts of which have received the most complete, consistent and stable expression.
