Abstract

Undoubtedly, the cultural heritage left by each generation must be preserved, researched and enhanced. A special place in the structure of this heritage in a number of libraries and museums is occupied by a private collection. Private collections may well reflect the historical development of the country’s culture and world culture as a whole. But oddly enough, this list in the country traditionally does not include the scientific study of artifacts, which may not fully correspond to modern realities. The scientific attribution of collectibles and the possibility of private collections acquiring an «academic character» is very important, as well as museum and library collections, since a personal collection may well become a source of pride for an entire country and serve as the embodiment of the national spirit.

In this regard, it is also necessary to note the existing, pending problems associated with the recording and examination of private collections. This would make it possible in the future to create conditions for their study and introduction into scientific circulation.

The presented article raises and discusses current issues and problems that private collectors of manuscripts in Almaty often face.
