Abstract

Currently, interest in traditional culture, its meaning and role in modern life has become increasingly intensified. No less interesting are the questions of its study from the point of view of its manufacture and practical use, as well as the materials from which they were made.

Let us note that the traditional crafts and trades of the Kazakh people were an integral part of their culture. Among the many traditional crafts of the Kazakhs, the importance of woodworking can be especially noted. It was this that provided the steppe inhabitants with various items in their daily life, as well as in their households.

The article discusses Kazakh traditional crafts, the technology of manufacturing wooden products by Kazakh craftsmen. The author focused on past and present research on wooden vessels and the significance of their ethnocultural activities.

The collections of the State Archaeological Museum-Reserve «Otyrar» contain more than 150 wooden objects from different periods. The artifacts in the museum collection are collected on the basis of many years of ethnographic expeditions by museum staff and special donations from residents of the region. The article talks about the features of these wooden products and their use in everyday life.

Research materials and methods: The research data were the books of the Museum, documents of the scientific archive of the Regional Museum, scientific articles and literature necessary for the disclosure of the topic.

The main principle of the article was based on historical data, methods of description, presentation, and narration were used.
