Abstract

Abstract. This article examines the customs and rituals associated with placing a baby in the cradle, which from ancient times to the present day have played a huge role in the ingrained traditions of the human life cycle. The cradle is perceived in the minds of the Kyrgyz nomad as a talisman of a child, a dwelling within a dwelling, moving from the womb of the mother into the socio-cultural space under the auspices of Umai Ene Researchers of the cradle come to the conclusion that among nomadic peoples it has not changed its shape since ancient times, namely since Hunnic times. Customs and rituals associated with laying in the cradle complete the chain of joyful events. The birth of a child is accompanied by good news; the one who brought the news of the birth of a child receives “suyunchu”, a reward for the good news; those who see the child give a reward to parents, grandparents and other family members “kɵrүmduk”; Naming also became a very important custom, and laying in the cradle closed the celebrations on the occasion of the birth of a child.
