Abstract

Abstract. The article narrates about such rare and extraordinary in all senses phenomenon as pigeon post and its spreading and using in beginning of twentieth century as way of communication including secret connection. Also, in this article author does attribution of authentic blank telegram form for pigeon postal service from beginning twentieth century, printed in Russian Empire. The article is analyzing of using of pigeon post and its meaning in warfare.

Pigeon post, probably, one from the most unusual types of connection ever existed in history of Humanity. This type of connection was appeared in ancientry and it from these times it used people in both ways: for peace goals and for militaristic purposes. Special interest for researchers has time period of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when postal pigeons, these unusual assistants of humans continued to bring messages, despite the swift development science and technology and invention of optical, acoustic and electrical telegraph. Nowadays, pigeon mail is studied and implemented by some ornithologists, pigeon breeders, as well as interested and enthusiastic people.
