Abstract. A museum can act as a means of ensuring the cognitive process, which is part of learning in pedagogical situations. The article discusses the types of implementation of the educational potential of the museum in history lessons. First of all, a museum is a place for conducting educational classes on the academic topics of educational organizations as part of extracurricular activities. Students come to the museum to deepen their knowledge of the subject. Secondly, a museum, acting as a historical visual tool for studying various facts, phenomena, events, has educational and methodological potential when teaching history subjects in a comprehensive school. From this point of view, a museum acts as an educational tool. The article provides recommendations for teachers of secondary education organizations on organizing thematic classes on history subjects in museums and historical sites in order to combine theoretical knowledge with practice.
The article discusses the importance of holding museum classes, as well as the importance of considering museum exhibits as a source of research, and not as a visual tool in museum classes. A museum is one of the mechanisms that revive the precious heritage of the forgotten history of the Kazakh people in the memory of future generations, instilling nationalism in the minds and introducing the world to the history of the country. Therefore, such museum lessons help to strengthen and deepen students' knowledge of their country, place, cultural monuments in the field of education. Museum lessons are very interesting for students, because a museum is a social institution, as an active element of public life.
