«SUMMER SCHOOL AT THE MUSEUM» PROJECT: DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION

Abstract. The article examines methods and techniques for working with children within the framework of the museum’s cultural and educational activities.

The relevance of the study is determined by the need to use methods and techniques effectively when developing museum programs for children, to select them in accordance with the comprehensive coverage of the chosen topic and their adaptation to children’s interests, and to ensure that the methods and techniques employed are accessible to the museum and do not pose a risk to the museum environment.

The aim of the study is to analyze the structure, content, and methodology of a museum-pedagogical project aimed at making museums more accessible to children, based on an analysis of the experience of organizing the “Summer School at the Museum” project implemented at the “Aziret Sultan” National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve.

The study established that the museum space makes it possible to integrate cultural and educational activities with an educational program. It was found that a museum lesson may extend beyond the exhibition to include museum objects, historical and cultural monuments, and the museum’s professional areas of activity. This comprehensive approach was applied in the “Summer School at the Museum” project, which integrates the following components: museum space – areas of the museum’s professional activity – museum object / historical and cultural monument – exhibition. Adapting museum information to the characteristics of children as an audience and using various methods of presenting it make the museum’s content more understandable and engaging for children. In this study, the experience of implementing the “Summer School at the Museum” project is considered as one model for organizing children’s leisure activities during the summer period. The possibility of adapting the project’s program content to museums of different profiles determines its practical significance.
